The Figs
130 minutes, 8 actors
A swan protects a lonely boy named June. A princess loves a bartender named Lorna. The Devil cares for a friend named Death. And all alone on a blood soaked throne, a king craves figs.
With stories that are nested, entwined, tangled, subverted, inverted, and curled up in corners, The Figs both enshrines and defies conventional narrative. Its heroes may be brave and kind, its lovers stalwart and true–but what of the roomful of revelers slaughtered in a tavern? What about the little white fish, who has no pockets? What about figs, which are not fruits, but flowers?
The Figs immerses audiences in a world where magic and massacres go hand in hand and stories are everything. Stories of an innocent fig farmer. Stories of a princess in love. Stories of fathers who fail and sisters who are cruel and brothers who sulk and mothers who go missing. Stories of those who do their worst and those who try their best and everyone in between. Stories of me and also of you
